Fast Changes to Earth's Surface

After working on your science homework for tonight you should be familiar with volcanoes, earthquakes, and landslides as well as how they can change the Earth's surface.







Using evidence from the reading passage answer this question! Please answer using complete sentences.

*Which do you think would be scarier to get stuck in? (a volcanoe, earthquake, or landslide) How come??? (justify your answer)

    A volcano because it would burn and melt me to.death at the same time, while exploding ans sending huge chunks of rock flying around and desriying things, Abdul sending a huge cloud of toxic dust into the air, and with all of these things combined, what are the chances of escape?!?!?!

    i think it would be most scary to be in an earthquake because the place your in would start shaking and sometimes your half could go over or under the other. plus after if you were far away like driving you might not be able to get home or your home could be destroed

    i think it would be most scary to be in a land slide becaues if you were under there nobody would know and you could die.Also its very sudden so you dont know when its comming.You could also just die scince it could crash down on you so hard.

    For me it would be a bad earthquake because you cold be walking home from school and the ground under you just slips away and next thing you know it your in a crack with tons of other stuff falling on top of you .

    I think it would be the scariest to be in a landslide because you could just be touring a mountain and then all of a sudden, a huge amount of rocks could slide on top of you and bury you until you starve to death.

    earthquake because sometimes the ground splits in 2. Also a lot of things collapse and if you were stuck in a building and it was collapsing....... THAT WOULD BE VERY SCARY

    earthquake because when you come to your home you would find that your home would be destroyed and cars would be wrecked and what not and the ground could be shaking and you might not be able to get home if our like stuck in traffic.

    I say it would be scarier if you were stuck in a volcano. You are probably thingking 'Is it active or not?' In my case, it would be active and that would be scariest to me. In an active volcano, there is bright red lava crawling upward like fireworks. You are stuck in a volcano that is active, flaming hot, shaking, un-stable, and you have no idea what will happen. Because you are stuck, you will have no feeling that you could get out, and your life, will be super scary at that moment, and then, whether you live or die, you still know that was scary.
    Wheareas, in an earthquake, you don't always die immideately. It'll probably take longer to die like others have said. Plus, there isn't a super scary part like when you are ina volcano, you could be burned alive! In an earthquake a common reason to die would be in sufforcation or the ground shaking and you collasped or like, a car out of control smacks you.
    In a landslide, that is probably the second scary. that isn't as lfe-saving. Once some ground falls on you, you are dead rotten meat. Also, you might have died sooooo fast, you wouldn't be scared at all. But, this could be pretty scary to see that happen to someone. take that back. for someone seeing that happen, would be the most scary to them. Or it could be see someone die in a volcano.
    I'm not sure.
    Final answer: Being in a volcano and stuck, is the scariest.!!!!! ;)

    i think it would be scarier for you to get stuck in a volcano cause what if lava you know comes out and your stuck in there and then the lava is going to kill you cause it is really hot. cece #15

    i think a volcano would be more scarier because you could get shot by a piece of lava and you would basically die instantly and with everything else you wouldn't really die instantly.

    I think it would be scariest to be in a landslide because you could get stuck under there and nobody would know you were.You could possibly suffocate to death.Also it comes very fast, so you probably wouldn't suspect it.

    I think that a volcano or a landslide would be more scary. The reason why I think that a volcano is scarier is because if you stuck in a rock and you can't move and a volcano erups, you have no choice but to just sit there and watch yourself melt. Dosen't that sound painful!!??!? The reason why I think a landslide is scarier is because it can hurt you in two ways:
    1. You could just be waling and then all of a sudden the grond starts sliding and you fall back and break your bones or something and even worse you could go off a cliff with all the dirt and stuff that the landslide drags with it. That only happens if you are on the landslide.
    2. You could just be walking in the middle of nowhere and then you see the ground starts to move toward you and then suddenly your covered with dirt gasping for air but there isn't any. Then you die. That only happenes if you get caught under a landslide.

    Now that I think about it I think that dying in a volcano if more painful than it is to die in a landslide. SO I THINK THAT A VOLCANO IS SCARIER.

    I think that a volcano is scarier. You can die if you just touch the lava. I also kinda think a earthquake because right when you go to school and your parents are in the house and an earthquake is there and what would you think??? You'd be lonely by yourself. Actually, I think all of them are scary and I don't want to get in trouble with any of them because they all creep me out if I were there.

    I think a volcano would be scarier because you would be running away from burning lava and you would be choking on all the smoke and ashes.It is just so terrible to think of.Running, wondering if your family made it, friends? pets? Or have they died?????????

    unlike a volcano,an earthquake is not as scary because earthquakes,if u get stuck in one of those huge big cracks, when the earthquake ends, u can most likely get out.and earthquakes,dont last very long unlike volcanos.
    an earthquake usually lasts up to about 10-20 mins long while a volcano can go on erupting 4 EVER!!!(p.s. u can usually tell when an earthquake is about to happen because the ground starts to tremble and then u know when to leave where u are.)


    And even though landslides can happen all of a sudden, they arent as scary because u know that wouldnt really happen in texas, and it would start from the top and u usually arent on the top of a mountain( thats crazy)
    because u reakky cant even climb that high, which brings you to the most unreasonable conclusions, and im not even going to talk about them, so the easiest thing for u to do is to not ask me tomorrow when you get to school.

    and that brings me to my conclusion that i think that volcanoes are very scary and you should never stand next to one that you KNOW is about to errupt, and for those of u who have.....................
    ur lucky and dont do it again.

    -Volcano you can suffocate from the ash and die from suffocation and the lava can burn you and you will get a really bad pussy burn like i did when i touched a hair straightener. OMG I THOUGHT IS WAS OFF!

    - Landslides fall and you could get crushed by it. Well BOO HOO U! Also it would probably happen in the mountains but WHO would climb one if you know it's not that safe?!?!?!?!?!?!? (U can live)
    -Earthquakes could shake and you could vomit on your parents. Just kidding but it does shake you. Anyway the earthquake would collapse on you and snap your bones like the world breaking a tiny tiny stick.

    -So a volcano would be worst because you can't really get away from it.

    I think it would be most scary to be stuck in a volcano because even if you do survive the burning hot rock shooting from it like a rapid-firing incendiary bazooka, you also have the molten hot pyrochastic flows, which would obviously melt you into a blob.

    For me it would be most scary to be stuck in an earthquck. The reason of this is because,evrything would just be tumblimg, crashing, and falling around and on top of you, and there would be no where to run to beceause EVERYTHING would be falling so you would'nt bw able to hide anywhere.
